Reconstructing Debussy - Soloist with Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra

What happens when an Electronic Artist gets insprired by Claude Debussy? Material clears away, shapes become blurred, reconstruct and something great comes into existence!

In cooperation with producer and DJ Marc Romboy and crossover artist Miki Kekenj the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra presents Claude Debussy in an electronic format. In this concert Hanna Rabe will be featured as soloist in Debussy's "Danse sacrée et danse profane". Here you find the first trailer for this inspiring project!



"Queens Duo in Hongkong"

Now it's official! The Queens Duo feels honored to be invited as guest artists to the World Harp Congress 2017 in Hongkong!

The World Harp Congress is the biggest event in the international harp scene, which takes place every three years in changing countries. 2017 the congress will be held in Asia for the very first time. Flutist Verena Beatrix Schulte and harpist Hanna Rabe will perform their program "Two-World-Identity" featuring works by composers, who left their home due to political persecution and had to start a new life in a foreign country. With this concert program the Duo wants to broach the issue of the refugee movement around the world and to speak up for tolerance and openess towards everyone who has to start all over again.

In October harpist Hanna Rabe was awarded the postgraduate concert exam with distinction - the highest degree a German Musikhochschule can assign - at Hochschule für Musik Detmold.

"Scandinavian project in 2017"

Hanna Rabe is excited to collaborate again with the Norwegian guitarist and composer Audun Aschim Steffensen. With electronic and acoustic sounds - from both the harp and the guitar - Audun Aschim Steffensens compositions combine melodic passages with improvisational moments, but always keep a strong dramaturgical picture in mind. A whole new sound world "made in scandinavia"!

"Soloistic in september"

Hanna Rabe is looking forward to to work together as a soloist with two orchestra this month!

Apart from performing the wonderful harp concerto from Reinhold Gliere she will be joining the orchestra "Camerata Hamburg" for a perfomance and a recording of Géza Frids "Nocturnes for flute, harp and string orchestra in Hamburg.

After several performances with Claude Debussy's "Danse Sacrée et Danse Profane" for harp and string orchestra with the Folkwang Kammerorchester Essen and Sinfonietta Köln in March, the beautiful month Mai will be dedicated to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

In this month Hanna Rabe will perform Mozart's Double Concerto for flute, harp and orchestra in two concerts in Cologne and Iserlohn.

"2. prize in Italy and live broadcast in German Radio"

Exciting weeks for the Queens Duo!

Harpist Hanna Rabe and flautist Verena Schulte are 2. prize winner in the International Chamber Music Competition "Citta' di Chieri" in Italy.

Also on 29th November 2014 they will perform a concert in Cologne, which will be broadcasted live on German Radio WDR3.

"Young Art"

The Queens Duo is the winner of the award "Young Art" of Volksbank Paderborn-Höxter-Detmold.

The Volksbank-award supports young artists with extraordinary talent and creativity since 20 years and will be awarded to the Queens Duo on 16th November 2014 at 11h in the theatre Paderborn.

The Queens Duo receives a special award in 2014: Harpist Hanna Rabe and flautist Verena Schulte are the "artists of the year 2014" of Kulturstiftung Marienmünster. During the year the Duo will perform several concerts in the prestigious Concert Hall Marienmünster.

In autumn they are looking forward to produce their first CD with music from British and German composers.

"Scholarship for Hanna Rabe"

Hanna Rabe was awarded the concerto scholarship of the Werner-Richard-/Dr.-Carl-Dörken-Stiftung. As an laureate she will perform as a soloist at several great venues in Germany.

"Queens Duo goes to France!"

Between 1st and 11th August Verena Schulte and Hanna Rabe will perform in different venues around south of France.

The programme consists of Duo compositions and pieces for flute, harp, string quartet and clarinet (f.ex. Ravel's Introduction et Allegro, Debussy danses with string quartet, Handel harp concerto with string quartet)
